AUSGANG Studio

Anthropologic exhibition

21.06 – 1.07

Time is always determined by the most powerful medium, so… we live in the digital age, and the significance of digitalization may be a key theme in the narrative of the AUSGANG studio. Their work is based, on one hand, on the ambiguity caused by the chaotic interpretation of technological progress, and on the other, on processes influenced by environmentalism and the duality between reality and virtuality. Through the fusion of these elements, they distort the installation space over time, creating new and surprising environments that allow visitors to be immersed in the situation and perceive the physical reality of the exhibition in conjunction with its digital version. In their work, they use not only the visual language but also the auditory and performative language of cyberspace.

In Katowice, AUSGANG studio presents three installations, which collectively bear the name Anthropologic.

“ATEM” – immerses the viewer in the philosophy of breath as a symbol of life force and the fundamental principle of life.
“SPAWN POINT” – the moment of metamorphosis. An ephemeral moment of birth. What lies inside the egg? When will it hatch, and what will it become? Replication as something that propels life forward. Something that brings new possibilities for better adaptation to endure new conditions. To be better.
“DOOM” – culture and our technologies “live” on. They have cheated death and will carry our signature until the end of the universe. We have become creators outlived by our creations. This has always been our plan. We did it. It’s a reason to celebrate. We made it, humanity!
(Excerpt from the text by Josef Vlk / AUSGANG curator)

AUSGANG Studio – Alex Zelina and Radovan Dranga of the AUSGANG studio are multimedia artists living in Berlin and Bratislava. Their artistic practice is inspired by new technologies and a fascination with combining them with art. They largely address contemporary issues such as the role of machines in evolution, environmentalism, technological progress, and the duality between reality and virtuality. To explore possible future scenarios for humanity and the planet, Alex and Radovan create impressive spatial installations and objects. These majestic and mysterious heralds of new worlds are made from recycled materials, used cables, various natural and biological materials, and are enriched with appropriate audiovisual effects.
