Greetings from the Land of Shadows – Sound Installation by the New Media Laboratory
An audio installation utilizing exciters to emit sound waves from surrounding objects such as bridges, benches, and trash bins. The sound layer is inspired by antimatter, which scientists believe is a mirror image of our world. Everyday objects that typically absorb sound are given a voice by being set into resonance. These sounds symbolize a mysterious response from the Land of Shadows, hidden from our senses.
Katowice-based artist Tonallaxe will present compositions by playing on two bridges near the toboggan run. The second location will be adapted by Jakub Mokrzysiak to extract sounds from the elements surrounding the so-called green pond near the Tadeusz Kościuszko monument.
The creators of the installation are artists affiliated with the New Media Laboratory at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice.
Time Table:
𝟏𝟖:𝟎𝟎–𝟏𝟖:𝟑𝟎 Tonallaxe concert (bridges near the toboggan run in Kościuszko Park)
𝟏𝟖:𝟒𝟓–𝟏𝟗:𝟏𝟓 Jakub Mokrzysiak audio installation (pond behind the Kościuszko monument)
