SYZYGIUM
During the event, the RotoR installation was operated by Piotr Staszak and expanded with a sound layer created by Grzegorz Stępień using prepared elements of a drum kit and electronics.
Piotr Staszak – animator and concept artist, a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. He combines skills in digital art with a passion for interactive media. In his practice, he explores themes related to futurism, science fiction, and outer space. He is the creator of the RotoR installation, which premiered during the exhibition Czerwona Plamka.
Grzegorz Stępień | GR/ST – drummer and sound artist. He has collaborated with projects such as Fonogon, KSY, and ARRM; performed solo; and composed music for exhibitions and animations. He is currently working on the debut release of the duo ŚWIĘTO.
RotoR – a kinetic installation inspired by the movement of stars and planets. RotoR invites participants to immerse themselves in the cosmic order through motion and sound, offering a sense of control over both the system and the compositions being created. As planets roll along designated orbits, sounds are set in motion—resembling signals from outer space: radio noise, wave vibrations, mysterious impulses. The installation encourages reflection on the harmonies emitted by celestial bodies within their cosmic order, as well as on the limits of human perception, which compel us to constantly interpret these signals.
